Mother & Baby International is bringing this birth doula training to you, in your own home, with a dynamic, inspiring and thought provoking doula course.
This online course is run by Valérie Goedkoop, who has worked 10 years as a doula and 8 as a course leader in Europe and the Middle East, with participants from all over the world.
The course is currently in English but will be available in French in the future. Please register your interest if you’d like to take the course in French.

There are 6 two-hour (2h) webinars which are live and interactive over 3 weeks and includes ome work to be done before, during and after the course. It is possible to have your completed course certificate within a week of the last webinar. Our doulas work all over the world.
The course includes an extensive manual sent to your home.
The course is a combination of distance learning and presentation from the tutor and the participants. It is interactive, which means it will have you actively involved rather than passively following a lecture from the back of a room. We use up to date webinar technology. It is dynamic and engaging… you don’t have to spend your days with your nose in a book.
You do not need the latest computer or being an IT engineer, but you do need a decent internet connection (if unsure, contact us), preferably with audio and video hardware (A camera and a headset are strongly recommended for your own benefit and enjoyment of the course).
You will be able to speak to your tutor privately before, during and after the course.
You will be one of a small group of participants. This allows you to see how birth works in other parts of the world and share your experiences with others.
There is no membership or joining fee.
The doula course is C$425.- (Canadian dollars)
You can pay it in one go or choose to pay it in three installments of C$150.- each. The course needs to be paid in full 7 days before the start of the first webinar.
Your course manual and pre-course modules will be sent within 48hours of your (final) payment reaching us.
The manual will be posted from Canada and can take a good week to reach you (or more- depending where we are sending it to).
Courses only have 6 participants to allow everyone to participate easily.
Terms and conditions
Payment is ONLY refundable (minus C$30.- for admin*) within 7 days of registering with us. If you have paid but can't attend we will do our best to re-schedule you on a later webinar.
The course needs to be paid in full 7 days before the start of the first webinar. If you are paying in installments the last installment needs to be paid 7 days before the start of the webinar.
If you are unsure if a webinar format would work for you, get in touch with us and we can "test" the feasability of the webinar with you prior to enrolling on the course. A refund will not be given if the format does not work for you.
It is your responsiblity to check that you are correctly equipped to follow and participate in the webinars. Please talk to us if unsure.
It is your responsibility to ensure you have sufficient time to complete your pre-course module and have scheduled the 6 webinars into your diary.
* This fee covers the time and charges we will incur for processing your payment and refund with paypal.
Certification
Certification is optional. A certified doula has been trained and mentored over several months. As part of her assessment for certification she has been individually supported through her first doula experiences by an experienced mentor. She constantly reflects on her practice and continues to develop her skills. To be certified you will need to attend 3 births and complete the certification pack. For each birth a report will be written which will include the parents views. The doula will then discuss and debrief each birth with her mentor following her job/report.
The pack is C$10.-
The certification is C$75.-
You have 2 years to complete the certification.
